Managed Personas

Managed Personas are pre-configured AI agents where we handle everything. No API keys to manage, no terminal access needed - just deploy and use.

Overview

With Managed Personas, you get:

  • Pre-configured AI personalities ready to use
  • API keys managed by Tiller
  • Usage-based billing with token limits
  • Automatic updates and maintenance
  • Usage monitoring in the dashboard

Available Personas

Vanilla OpenClaw

A minimal, general-purpose AI assistant. Great as a starting point with basic capabilities.

Xpress

An X (Twitter) content creator persona with specialized skills:

  • Fetch - Retrieve tweets, threads, and engagement metrics
  • Research - Analyze trends, competitors, and audience insights
  • Analyze - Evaluate content performance with recommendations
  • Scrub - Clean and anonymize data for privacy

Creating a Managed Server

  1. Ensure you have an active subscription (Pro or Business plan)
  2. From the Dashboard, click Create Server
  3. Choose a name and select your cloud credential
  4. Select a persona preset from the dropdown
  5. Enable the Managed Server toggle
  6. Click Create Server

Once provisioning completes, your managed server will be configured automatically with our API keys and the selected persona.

Usage Monitoring

Managed servers track token usage for billing purposes. View your usage on:

  • Server detail page - Shows tokens in/out for that specific server
  • Billing page - Shows aggregated usage across all managed servers

Understanding Token Usage

  • Tokens In - Tokens sent to the AI (your prompts)
  • Tokens Out - Tokens generated by the AI (responses)

Your plan includes a monthly token limit. Usage resets on your billing cycle date.

Plan Limits

Each subscription tier has limits on managed servers and monthly tokens:

  • Pro - 3 managed servers, 1,000,000 tokens/month
  • Business - 10 managed servers, 10,000,000 tokens/month

If you exceed your token limit, you'll receive a notification. Upgrade to a higher plan for more capacity.

No Terminal Access

For security and consistency, managed servers don't provide terminal or SSH access. This ensures:

  • Our API keys remain secure
  • Persona configurations stay consistent
  • We can provide reliable support

If you need terminal access, consider DIY OpenClaw instead.

Switching Between Modes

You cannot convert a managed server to DIY or vice versa. If you need to switch:

  1. Create a new server with the desired mode
  2. Terminate the old server
